Visiting Capitol Reef NP with Twins

[Trip to Capitol Reef NP] A fun time. Not very many trails for strollers but Cohab canyon was a nice short hike.

We stayed at the Best Western between Torrey and the park. They did fine accomodating us with twins. Note that the "view building" has a, well, a view that rivals anything in the park. We didn't know to get in the view building, but next time we will. The allure of the view building that you can get one room, but the kids to bed and sit out on the porch and enjoy sunset in the view.

Capitol reef is not a very stroller friendly park (like say Zion NP), but we survived. There's a stroller-able walk to a pictograph panel and lots of strolling to be in the orchards and park at the Fruita site.

We loaded the girls (10 months at the time) into a pair of baby bjorn carriers and hiked them upto Cohab canyon. Cohab canyon is a rare combination of easy access, execellent color and interesting textures. Easy access means you don't have to drive on a 4wd road and the access hike is only 1/4 mile (but its really steep). The sandstone has great color and texture, which is great because I like texture and my wife likes color. Baby bjorns are not optimal for carrying 10 month olds into the canyon, but we survived. The girls were asleep by the time we got to the canyon so we enjoyed a quiet slow stroll through the first part of the canyon and went back down.

Overall, a good trip with twins. Not as perfect as Zion NP, but still enjoyable.
