Microsoft awarded an Apple patent!?

[United States Patent: PP14,757] This is a "new and distinct variety" of an apple tree grown in Washington state (not designed in California). Apparently, its got a deeper red and grows earlier than other apples. The assignment to Microsoft was a mistake, by the way. Thanks to Bryan Morse for pointing this one out.
