Thinking about what I do outside
[The Deseret Morning News Obituary Notices] This is the obituary for John Anderson. He was a student in my class and a fine TA afterwards (before he changed to Construction management, he was a brilliant CS major but his heart wasn't in it). Thinking about John and dying in a pool of cold water in a slot canyon makes me reconsider how I spend my time outside. I enjoy being outside but I enjoy living even more. Still, the most risky part of most trips is the drive to the trailhead. Lots to think about. In the end though, I don't do anything remotely risky. I don't even own a climbing harness.
